Held this week in Chicago, the Pebble Project is a workshop where healthcare organizations, architects, designers and industry partners work together to identify environment designs and solutions that measurably improve patient and worker safety, clinical outcomes, environmental performance and operating efficiency. The two-day workshop will begin May 8 with a tour of Pebble Project members Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, a state of the art children’s hospital that opened in June, 2012.
The national workshop will also include presentations by the University of Maryland Medical Center’s study on whether unit design and a standardized medication room can decrease medication errors in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Northeast Georgia Health System on achieving a sustainable building.

If you missed our big Factory Sale on Saturday, here’s a recap of how it went, in photos:
It all started with a line… a very long one.

Then, the floodgates opened!

Customers loved the “Make Your Own Chair” station.
And the Fiberglass Shell Chair Factory!
Our Favorite Part: Happy Customers!
We also loved seeing so many furry friends!
There were also quite a few tiny shoppers, although not all of them seemed to enjoy themselves as much as their parents…
There you have it! A Factory Sale to remember! For those of you who made it out, let us know what you thought of the event in the comment section below. Did you enjoy it? Did you find everything you wanted? What can we improve on next time? Let us know!

The Autostadt in Wolfsburg now offers organic-quality bread at its in-house bakery, “Das Brot.“ The bakery, located on the ground floor of the ServiceHaus, turns the spotlight on artisanal baking traditions, while its interior design also expresses the concept “From Field to Counter“. The Autostadt worked closely with creative agency Designliga to implement the idea, defining the use of sustainable, renewable materials and traditional craftsmanship as clear priorities. “The new bakery not only stocks exclusively organic quality products; even the building materials we used are responsibly sourced, from local timber to tiles and fabrics“, explains Micaela Tewes, head of events and...

The bar-club is located where the balcony of the “Lumen” used to be: this former Lausanne cinema opened in 1908 then became the “ABC” in 1935. It was, at one time, one of the largest screens in Europe. In 1998, the cinema became the D! club, where the clubbing area took up the two spatial sections: the stalls and the balcony.
In 2012, the architects sas architecture and the client developed a “club within the club” concept for the balcony, separate from the D! club. They designed an intimate area both “rock attitude” and chic. The balcony’s original volumes were made visible again and magnified, retaining the possibility of reverting to the original immense volume for specific events. The client’s wish was for extreme flexibility of use and a very striking identity.
The architects played with the building’s historic features as well as with its facetted geometry. They introduced reflection effects to splinter the existing space. The existing bar element was extended and tiled with tinted mirrors. It therefore became an impressive shining element connecting the full height of the former entry area with the former balcony.
Decor and lighting were developed with decorator Alexandre Boyer who repeatedly made reference to the cinema: Merry-Go-Round planes chasing each other 5 meters up in the air, tables recovered from...
