Clash of Clans Still #1 So Far!

Clash of Clans is a popular MMO Strategy video game for mobile devices developed and published by Supercell. It gained massive responses worldwide. For iOS platforms, the game was released on August 2, 2012, and on Google Play for October 7, 2013.

The objective of the players is to build their town or clans using resources gained from attacking other players. The main resources are gold, elixir and dark elixir with dark elixir becoming the most valuable in the later stages of the game. There are a lot of troops available including the archers, barbarians, dragons, hog riders, wall breakers to name a few with the help of which you can attack other bases.

Now to train your troops for battles you need to have elixirs. The troops are trained in barracks which utilizes the elixir. There are also dark barracks which consume dark elixir. Gold and elixir can be used to build defenses like archer towers, cannons and wizard towers that will protect your resources when other players attack. There are two ways to get your elixir and gold. You can build gold and elixir mine to extract them or you can get them by attacking other bases. Gems are one of the most limited resources which can be used to buy builders. By default, you are provided with 2 builders. You can buy more builders using gems and allocate tasks to them such as upgrading defenses.

Now there are many strategies to attack and you can design the layout by various ways so that less damage is inflicted when other players attack. Usually, the storages are protected by buildings and walls. Players can conjoin to form clans and participate in clan wars having a maximum of 50 players. Clans can then mutually donate troops and develop strategies for clan wars.

A lot of positive reviews and high ratings were received but some disliked the presentation of the freemium model of the game. Clash of clans became one of the 5 most downloaded games on the play store. It held the top position in both iOS and Android in terms of generating revenue in 2015.
